Peter Nicolas is our candidate for Florham Park Borough Council. Peter
has shown Florham Park that he has the experience,
leadership and knowledge necessary to serve on the Borough Council and to
improve the Florham Park community. His outstanding volunteer work exemplifies
his dedication to public service and informs his decisions as a leader. Peter
is focused on development and progress for the community, and will bring these
qualities to the Florham Park Borough Council.
At the top of the 2019 ballot is NJ State Assembly,
and for the 27th Legislative District we have incumbents John McKeon and Mila Jasey.
Assemblyman John F. McKeon, first elected to the New Jersey General Assembly on November 6,
2001, is currently serving in his seventh term.
John is a former Chairman of the Assembly Environment and Solid Waste
Committee. He now serves as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, Vice-Chairman
of the Environment and Solid Waste Committee, and is a member of the Financial
Institutions and Insurance Committee. His
previous leadership positions in the Assembly have included time as Deputy
Speaker, Majority Whip, Assistant Majority Leader and Assistant Majority Whip.
Assemblywoman Mila M. Jasey, elected to the Assembly in 2007, is running for her 5th term representing the
27th Legislative District. She serves as
Chair of the Higher Education Committee, Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on the
Public Schools, Vice-Chair of the Housing and Community Development Committee
and a Member of the Education Committee.
Prior to joining the Legislature, Mila served as a Member of the South
Orange/Maplewood Board of Education for three terms, including two years as
President.
Together
in the Assembly they will continue fighting
for Property Tax Relief ; funding the Senior Freeze Program; promoting
Affordable Health Care; preserving our environment; championing Public
Education; and prioritizing Gun Safety.
For the Morris County elections we have five
outstanding and experienced candidates. For
Morris County Sheriff, we have William
Schievella, a law enforcement executive with over 30 years of experience.
He is dedicated to fighting crime, addiction, and intolerance in Morris County.
He is a former Rockaway Township
Councilman, an educator and a public servant who will work to make our county
safer and more equitable.
For
Morris County Surrogate, our candidate
is Michael Thompson , an
attorney from Mendham with over twenty years experience as a Trusts and Estates
attorney, assisting hundreds of families navigate the red tape of the
Surrogate's Court. Michael?s skills and
experience, make him a strong candidate for Surrogate. In September of 2016,
Michael was appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey
to a four year term serving on the Office of Attorney Ethics, District VB
Ethics Committee.
For Morris County Freeholders
we have Team Morris: Cara
Parmigiani, Cary Amaro, and David Timpanaro running together for the
three County Freeholder seats. Cara Parmigiani, of Morris Plains, a Lawyer
with an emphasis on family, civil, municipal and land use matter, is an Advocate
for women in arranged marriages and
children in court. Cary Amaro, of
Randolph Township, with an MS in accounting, is a Controller with over 13 years
experience of managing the distribution of money, while ensuring adherence to
ethical policies. David
Timpanaro, also of Randolph Township, a Social Worker and PhD candidate, established and owns an agency which works
with and advocates for children with disabilities.
These are all outstanding candidate committed to improving Morris County and the Florham Park community for everyone.
Peter Nicolas of Townsend Drive is
celebrating his 25th year as a Florham Park homeowner. He has 30+
years of management experience, including 15 at professional services firms. He
will bring experience, leadership and his business acumen to Council to solve
important local issues. Peter is dedicated to:
· Get control of the maximum tax increases the borough continually experiences.
· Initiate applications for Sustainable Jersey Environmental grants for our borough and schools.
·
Initiate financial literacy program for all Florham Park students.
Peter holds an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson
University and a BA in Political Science and Government Administration from
Montclair State University. He moved here with his wife and daughter in
1994. He is the Director of Learning & Development for a Top 50 Accounting
firm.
Florham Park is referred to as "A Community
of Volunteers" and Peter exemplifies that. He enhanced the education
experience of more than 1,000 Florham Park students at Brooklake Elementary,
Ridgedale Middle School, and Holy Family Catholic School with free financial
literacy education from 2013 - 2017.
He is Florham Park Rotary's Sergeant-at-Arms and
Past President, Florham Park's AARP Membership Chair, and Little Red Schoolhouse Lead Docent. He is also a
Leadership Morris Class of 2016 alum and served as a Morris County Chamber of
Commerce Ambassador.
Other volunteering includes: Neighborhood Block Watch Captain, 2019 BSA Jamboree Chess Tournament, annual Knights of Columbus Chess Tournament for Kids, Greek Festival in Roseland, Heroes for Kids Cancer Research, Interfaith Food Pantry, and PwC Golf and Tennis teams Captain for 12 years.
An independent and strategic thinker with a big picture focus, he will bring his passion and professional services and leadership experience and skills to Florham Park Borough Council.
